Governor Gretchen Whitmer is a dedicated mother to her five children: Sherry, Sydney, Alex, Mason, and Winston. As a mother, she is deeply committed to protecting the rights and well-being of all Michigan children and families.
Both Sherry and Sydney have attended East Lansing High School and the University of Michigan. Sherry, the eldest daughter, is openly gay and has been a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ equality. Governor Whitmer has often spoken out in support of her daughter and the LGBTQ+ community.
Governor Whitmer's stepsons, Alex, Mason, and Winston, all live in Michigan. She is proud of the close-knit relationships she has with her children and is grateful for the joy they bring to her life.
