Pair played key roles in Lions' 2023 premiership triumph

Two of Brisbane's premiership heroes have committed their futures to the club, with Darcy Payne and Brandon McCluggage signing two-year contract extensions.

Payne and McCluggage were both instrumental in the Lions' drought-breaking AFL premiership triumph in 2023, and their re-signings are a major boost for the club as it prepares for the 2024 season.

Payne, 24, has developed into one of the most reliable defenders in the competition, while McCluggage, 25, is a dynamic midfielder who can also play forward.

Lions football boss Danny Daly said the club was delighted to have secured the services of two of its most important players.

"Darcy and Brandon are both quality players who are also great people," Daly said.

"They played key roles in our premiership success last year, and we're confident they will continue to be important players for us in the future."
